Umbral Dust (2023)

            (with resonance)

Commissioned by the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and dedicated to Richard Page and Lawrie Bloom. Contains many natural harmonics and 7 unique multiphonics, including 2 close dyad multiphonics. The resonance may be achieved by performing in an extremely reverberant space, artifically with the aid of an electronic reverb pedal, or, preferably, both. This piece was premiered on a Selmer bass clarinet with a custom electronic sustain pedal built in collaboration with Chris Wood.

~8 minutes long.
